Supporting Your Child's Education

The Guardian Visa (a type of Non-Immigrant O Visa) is specifically designed for a foreign parent to reside in Thailand to care for their child who is enrolled in a local accredited school. This visa is an excellent solution for young families relocating to Thailand primarily for their children's education, where the parents do not intend to work.

Key Requirements & Process

The process involves securing an initial visa and then meeting financial and documentary requirements for extensions.

  • Initial Visa: You must first obtain a single-entry Non-Immigrant O visa from a Thai consulate or embassy. CANNVAS can advise on the best location and process for this crucial first step.
  • Financial Proof: For visa extensions, applicants must currently show 500,000 THB in a Thai bank account. The funds must be "seasoned" (held in the account) for a specific period before the application date.
  • Proof of Relationship: Thai immigration requires official evidence of your relationship to the child. This is typically a notarized birth certificate or a formal affidavit from your embassy.
