Business Visas vs. Work Permits
It is essential to understand that a Business Visa (Non-Immigrant B) and a Work Permit are two distinct legal items that work together.
- A Non-Immigrant B Visa gives you the right to enter Thailand for business purposes and, crucially, allows you to apply for a work permit. It does not, by itself, authorize you to work.
- A Work Permit is the legal document that officially authorizes you to be employed and earn an income in Thailand.
CANNVAS provides a one-stop service to seamlessly guide you through obtaining both, ensuring your business activities are fully compliant with Thai law. If you intend to work in Thailand and are not married to a Thai national, you will need this class of visa.
The Process Explained
The path to legal employment in Thailand follows a clear structure.
1. Obtaining the Non-Immigrant B Visa
Typically, this process begins with an offer of employment from a Thai Registered Company. We help you prepare the necessary documentation to apply for a single-entry Non-Immigrant B visa at a Thai embassy or consulate outside the country.
2. Applying for the Work Permit
Once you arrive in Thailand on your B visa, we can begin the work permit application. The employing company must generally have a minimum registered capital of 2 million THB and four Thai employees for every one foreign employee.
3. Long-Term Visa Extension
After your work permit is secured, we can extend your Non-Immigrant B visa for one year, allowing for long-term legal employment and residence.
